The story
To celebrate pacing the 1978 Indianapolis 500, Chevrolet built just 6,502 Pace Car edition Corvettes, with distinctive two-tone paint, special graphics, unique bi-colour leather interior and specific alloy wheels. They were collector pieces from the day they left the showroom.
This left-hand-drive example carries the 5.7-litre (350 CI) V8 breathing through a four-barrel carburettor, wrapped in the C3's unmistakable coke-bottle fibreglass body with pop-up headlamps — one of the most iconic American shapes ever drawn, and forever tied to Indy 500 history.
